"Pyramids Half Marathon" is a road race that takes place every year in February in the city of Cairo (Egypt). The half marathon route passes through the Giza Plateau, which is home to the most famous of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Great Pyramids of Giza. They gave the name to this running event. This half-marathon gathers a large number of participants from different parts of the world, who dream not only to test their strength at the distance, but also to immerse themselves in history.

History

Half marathon around the pyramids of Giza has been held since 2015 in the capital of Egypt, Cairo. The half-marathon is controlled by the company "The TriFactory", which is the leading organizer of all sports events in Egypt, in particular, specializes in marathons and cross-country races, endurance events and steeplechase. As part of the Pyramids Half Marathon, a race is held not only at a distance of 21 km, but also at 10 and 6 km. The time limit is 3 hours. 

Route

Half marathon route around the pyramids is completely paved and runs through Giza plateau, which is home to the Great Pyramids of Giza. The complex consists of three main pyramids: Khufu, Khafre and Menkaur, as well as the Great Sphinx located in the eastern part. Each pyramid also has smaller pyramids next to it, which are the tombs of the pharaohs' wives, their children, etc., as well as temples and other structures. Taking part in this half marathon “Pyramids Half Marathon”, athletes must overcome several small ups and downs. 

Registration for participation in competitions takes place online. To do this, you need to submit your application on the official website of the running event and pay the registration fee. The price of this fee includes the participant's starting package with a branded t-shirt, starting number, bag, bracelet, ID strap, finisher's medal.
