I really wanted to start the new running season not only with the highway, but also with trail race. With the road race, everything was determined - he chose "Friends race". But as a trail, I decided to stop my choice on the trail "Nyvky Winter Cross“.
Trail "Nyvky Winter Cross" I was primarily interested in the fact that it was organized by the same people who arranged the trail called “Winter Cross”, in which he participated last year. Another advantage was that the race was held in Kyiv, so you did not have to travel far.
Registration
Website vseprobegi.org has become a traditional place to register for various running events in Ukraine and the trail "Nyvky Winter Cross" is no exception. The organizers prepared two distances for the participants - you could choose 3 or 9 kilometers. He chose for himself the main distance of 9 kilometers, which consisted of three laps of 3 kilometers each.
Run
To make the "Nyvky Winter Cross" trail more interesting, the organizers chose a great location - Kyiv's Nyvky Park, which has always impressed with its landscapes. This park is also known for the fact that on its territory are the ruins of an old government dacha. Among the people of Kiev, it is better known as "Khrushchev's dacha."
The start for the participants of the main distance of the 9-kilometer trail race was scheduled for 11:00 on Sunday morning. Sunday morning began with another running holiday that was waiting for me in Kyiv's Nyvky Park. When he arrived, the starting town was already quite crowded. So I decided to immediately change into my uniform and here a curiosity was waiting for me. In the morning, when I was collecting things, some of them turned out to be left at home. Because of this, I had to run not in full running gear.
The trail in Nyvky Park immediately decided to please me with the ascent that awaited not far from the launch pad. Basic trail route ran along the paths of the park, but there were sections with ordinary terrain. In my opinion, the most interesting part of the route was the section at the end of each circle. It was a small ascent, followed by a descent, followed by about 200 meters of a straight road, after which a new circle began.
It took me about 17 minutes to cover the first two miles of the "Nyvky Winter Cross" trail. At the end of the first round, I was overtaken by Volodymyr Kovbasyuk. It was he who became an additional motivation for me, thanks to which I made up for lost time for the next three miles.
The trail in Nyvky Park became my first trail this year, I managed to overcome it in 50 minutes. The trail race itself gave unsurpassed emotions. And already at the end of the runners were waiting for a delicious treat from the organizers.
Impression
The "Nyvky Winter Cross" trail was very well organized, as was its predecessor last year. trail "Winter Cross". The race received an interesting route, and also pleased with the beautiful landscapes of Kyiv park "Nyvky".
