"Izmail Marathon" – is an annual 42-kilometre race that takes place in late September in Izmail, Odesa Oblast, on the banks of the Danube River. The running programme also includes a half-marathon race.

History
"Izmail Marathon" - one of the oldest marathon in Ukrainewhich has a history of more than 20 years. Currently, the sporting event is organised by the Suvorovets running club. Anyone who wishes to take part in the marathon in Izmail does not need to register in advance. All you need to do is arrive at the starting town on the day of the competition and register there. There is no need to pay a registration fee, as participation in the sporting event is free. At the same time, each athlete will receive his or her own race bib number, and at the end of the race a commemorative medal, diploma, and prizes for the best runners
Route
The route of the Izmail Marathon consists of one lap, where athletes have to run first in one direction and then in the opposite direction straight to the local stadium, where the finish line is located. It is a mostly well-paved route with small dirt sections, descents and ascents, which runs through the city of Izmail and surrounding villages, including Loschynivka, forests and fields. It has high-quality markings.
During the competition, volunteers, medics and security guards are constantly present here, able to help all participants without exception, for example, to direct them in the right direction or provide medical assistance. In addition, the organisers have set up eight hydration and food stations along the route at kilometres 3, 6, 10, 21, 36, 39, where you can refresh yourself with fresh water, isotonic, various delicacies, and just take a break.
