Ternopil Half Marathon

“Ternopil Half Marathon” - annual race, which has been held in Ternopil since 2017. The competition includes three distances for adults - the actual half marathon for 21 kilometers, races for 11 and 5 kilometers, children's and inclusive races for 100, 500, and 1000 meters, as well as "charity mile" for 1.6 kilometers. The set height at the main distance is 190 meters. There are age restrictions for the participants of the half marathon - only those who are 18 years old at the time of the start have the right to run the half marathon. 



Half marathon route “Ternopil Half Marathon” runs partly through the streets of the city and partly around the Ternopil pond. Participants start and finish on the Theater Square. Experienced runners, amateurs and even children take part. For example, the oldest participant of the Ternopil Half Marathon 2018, who ran 21 kilometers, was 67 years old. The youngest participant of the race was two months and a few days old. She "ran" a short children's distance in her father's arms.

History

The idea to organize the "Ternopil Half Marathon" first appeared when the initiative was born in the Fine City. “Run Day”weekly races for 5 kilometers. Around this running activity began to form a community, which later organized city ​​half marathon. The goal of the organizers is to actively involve city residents in sports. The first half marathon was held in 2017.

The second "Ternopil Half Marathon", which took place in 2018, gathered about 500 participants. 700 runners have already joined the third race in a row - in 2019. Participants of this half marathon came not only from different parts of Ukraine, but also from Poland, Romania, America and Lebanon. At the moment, the last "Ternopil Half Marathon" was held in 2019.

Route

Half marathon route runs partly through the streets of the city and partly around the Ternopil pond. Participants start and finish on the Theater Square: Theater Square, Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, Ruska, embankment on Biletskaya Street, st. Druzhbi, s. White (from Stefanyk Street to Krushelnytska Street), lake road, Far Beach, Yabluneva Street, Nadstavna Church, Ruska, Shevchenko Boulevard, return to the Theater Square.
