“Cairo Marathon” is an annual running competition held in February in the city of Cairo (Egypt). As part of the running event, there is not only a race for the main marathon distance, but also races of 10 and 21 kilometers. Everyone can test their endurance here. History
Marathon in Cairo is conducted since 2014, and gather more than 3500 athletes from different countries of the world. In general, this marathon is very popular among athletes. Participating in it is a good opportunity to once again test your strength for endurance and stability, see something new and get to know new countries, people and like-minded people in sports.
Everyone wishing to participate in the marathon has the opportunity to submit their application online on the official website of the marathon. There you need to enter your data, choose the desired discipline and pay the appropriate registration fee (about $30). Its size depends on the date of registration and the race in which you plan to participate. Upon arrival at the starting town, each athlete receives his own starting package with a branded t-shirt, a chip for measuring time and souvenirs, gifts.
Route
The marathon route is certified EAF consists of one circle, which must be run twice, once in one direction and the second time in the opposite direction. The track has high-quality markings and an asphalt surface. It runs through the streets of the ancient city of Cairo, along the embankment of the Nile River, so participants have the opportunity to enjoy beautiful views and the beauty of architectural monuments that will meet on their way.

Athletes will run past St. George's Church, the Egyptian Geological Museum, and then across Rhoda Island to the University Bridge. At the end of the marathon, all those who crossed the finish line receive a diploma and a medal.
